FAQ
Questions women ask us
If something isn't covered here, ask — clear answers are part of feeling comfortable.
- Do you bring fitness equipment?
- Yes. HERFORM uses a portable training system that may include resistance bands, mini bands, wrist and ankle weights, mats and other compact training tools. Dumbbells or kettlebells may also be incorporated depending on your goals and session location.
- Do I need my own equipment?
- No. HERFORM can provide portable equipment for most sessions. If you already own suitable dumbbells, kettlebells or other equipment, these may also be incorporated into your program.
- Can resistance bands build strength?
- Yes. Resistance bands can provide meaningful resistance for many full-body exercises. As you progress, difficulty can be increased through stronger bands, movement progressions, tempo changes, unilateral exercises, wearable weights or additional resistance equipment.
- What are wrist and ankle weights used for?
- Light wrist and ankle weights may be used to add resistance to controlled strength, Pilates-inspired and functional movement exercises. They can be particularly useful for core work, glute training, balance and controlled conditioning.
- Are ankle weights used for kicking?
- HERFORM uses wearable weights selectively. Heavy ankle weights are not used for fast or explosive kicking. They are primarily used during controlled movements.
- Is HERFORM heavy weight training?
- HERFORM includes progressive strength training, but the type of resistance depends on your goals, experience and environment. Some clients may train mainly with bands, bodyweight and wearable resistance, while others may progress to dumbbells, kettlebells or additional resistance.
- Is HERFORM Pilates or personal training?
- Neither on its own. HERFORM is a hybrid method combining progressive strength training, portable resistance, Pilates-inspired core control, mobility and athletic conditioning. Pilates-inspired work is one component, not the whole program.
- Can I improve my mobility and still train hard?
- Yes — that is the point. You can build muscle, get genuinely stronger and improve conditioning while also improving mobility, control and movement quality. Sessions are not limited to light exercise.
- What does a session look like?
- Assess, move, strengthen, power, recover. A typical session includes a movement check, mobility and activation, Pilates-inspired core control, progressive strength training, athletic conditioning, then mobility and recovery. Programs are adapted to you, not identical for everyone.
- Which training level suits me?
- Foundations if you are new or returning to structured training; Build if you are ready to progressively increase strength and fitness; Perform if you are experienced and want challenging strength, power and conditioning work.
- How long are sessions?
- 30-minute sessions focus on mobility, core control and progressive strength. THE HERFORM 45 adds athletic conditioning, more coaching and a fuller mobility and recovery finish.
- Are all services women only?
- Yes. Every HERFORM service is for women only and is delivered by a female practitioner.
- Is HERFORM suitable for Muslim women?
- Yes. HERFORM is designed with privacy and modesty in mind — female-only care, appropriate draping and respectful communication throughout. All women are welcome.
- How do I book a session?
- Bookings are handled through the Welliyah platform. Choose Book Through Welliyah anywhere on the site and you will be taken to the live booking calendar.

- Do posture support belts fix posture?
- No. Posture and pelvic support products are optional supportive tools only. Lasting improvement comes from strength, mobility, motor control, body awareness and consistent movement habits.
- What resistance levels are available?
- HERFORM long bands and mini bands are designed in four resistance levels — Light, Medium, Heavy and Extra Heavy — so resistance can be matched to the exercise, fitness level and stage of progression.
- Are dumbbells or kettlebells always provided?
- No. Dumbbells and kettlebells may be incorporated where practical, but they are not brought to every appointment. Equipment selection depends on your goals, training level and session location.
- When can pregnancy fitness begin?
- HERFORM pregnancy movement and strength sessions are available from the second trimester onward, and are adapted to pregnancy stage, comfort, exercise experience and individual circumstances.
- When can pregnancy massage begin?
- Pregnancy massage is also available from the second trimester onward. It is not offered during the first trimester.
- Why does HERFORM start from the second trimester?
- It is a conservative professional boundary. Beginning from the second trimester keeps pregnancy movement and massage within a comfortable, appropriate scope of practice. Clients should also follow advice from their GP, obstetrician, midwife or other treating clinician.
- When can postnatal exercise begin?
- There is no single timeline. Postnatal progression is individual and may depend on recovery, birth experience, symptoms and medical guidance. Sessions begin gently and progress as you feel ready.
- What if I have pelvic-floor symptoms?
- Let us know before your session. Programming is adapted, high-impact and high-pressure movements are avoided, and you may be encouraged to see a GP or pelvic health physiotherapist. HERFORM does not diagnose or treat pelvic-floor conditions.
